When to book

Strimming through the year

Grass grows fastest from April to September, so banks and verges usually need cutting every three to six weeks through the season to stay tidy.

From March to August we check long grass and banks for ground-nesting birds and wildlife before we cut. Walking the area first also means we find hidden rubbish and stones before the strimmer does.

If the grass is very long, we strim it down first and then mow it, which gives a much better finish than trying to mow it in one go.

Strimming FAQs

Common questions

Can you strim grass that's waist high?

Yes. We use heavy brushcutters for very long grass, then mow it down for a tidy finish.

Do you take the clippings away?

On lawns and gardens we rake them up and take them away. On big banks and rough ground, it's often better to leave them, and we'll talk you through it.

Can you strim the verge outside my house?

Yes, plenty of people have us keep the verge outside their property tidy alongside their own garden.

How often should banks and verges be strimmed?

Every three to six weeks from April to September keeps most areas tidy. Less in spring and autumn.

Is strimming included in lawn mowing?

Yes. Edges and the bits the mower can't reach are strimmed as part of every lawn mowing visit.
