How much does a gardener cost?
Here's what we charge, in one place, before you scroll through the real jobs.

Most gardening sites won't tell you what anything costs. We'd rather show you. The figures below are what customers actually paid on jobs we've filmed and posted, so you can get a feel for your own job before you ask.

Six things that move the number
Size and how long it's been left
Two years of growth is a very different job to six months. Most of the price is time on site.
Waste
Waste removal is priced separately on quoted jobs, and included when you book a whole day. On our jobs it has been £100 to £300, which is roughly 13% to 25% of the total. If you can keep or get rid of it yourself, the price drops.
What's hidden underneath
Rubble, wire and glass mean blades and hand picking instead of quicker machines. We'll tell you if we expect it.
Access
Everything has to come out through a gate, a house or down a lane. Tight access adds time.
Height
Hedges over about eight foot mean ladders or long reach cutters, and more waste per metre.
Keeping on top of it
After a clearance, a regular cut is what stops you paying for another one. Most lawns £35 a cut.
Common questions
How much does garden clearance cost?
On our own recent jobs, most domestic gardens in Carmarthenshire have come in between £250 and £750, depending on size, how long it's been left and whether we take the waste. Larger plots can be booked by the day: £600 for two of us, or £360 for one. We cut everything back to ground level or low stumps, and digging out roots isn't included in our quotes. How much is hedge cutting?
From £100 for about an hour on a single conifer hedge, to £1,220 for sixty metres of twenty foot privet including three loads of waste. A hedge reduction with the path cleared came to £220 with waste. Regular trims on a well kept hedge cost far less than a reduction. See our hedge cutting page for more.
How much does a gardener cost per hour?
For one-off jobs, our general labour is £45 per man hour. If you've got a big list of jobs, booking a team for a day is usually better value: £360 for one person, £600 for two or £840 for three, for 8 hours on site. Lawn mowing is a fixed price per cut, most lawns £35.
What is your day rate?
£360 a day for one of us, £600 for two and £840 for three, with half days from £200. Every day includes tools, fuel, travel and a van load of green waste. You can book a day online with a £100 deposit.
Is green waste removal included?
We always say. On quoted jobs, waste removal is priced separately on your quote, so you can choose to keep it. Every booked day includes one van load of green waste. On the jobs on this page, taking the waste away was £100 for one van load and £300 for three loads. We're a registered waste carrier, so anything we take away is disposed of properly.

Do you give fixed prices?
Yes. Every quote is a fixed price in writing before we start, usually the same day you send photos and always within 24 hours.
What's your minimum charge?
For lawn mowing, lawns start from £30 a cut, and a typical front and back lawn is about £35 a cut.
Check any gardener you hire is a registered waste carrier on the Natural Resources Wales register. If they take your waste and it gets fly tipped, you can be held responsible.
