Pontyates sits on the Gwendraeth Fawr, between Kidwelly and Pontyberem. Like the rest of the valley it grew up around coal, so there are rows of terraces on the valley sides, with bungalows and newer homes round the edges and bigger rural plots out towards Meinciau and Carway.
Pontyates is one of the closest villages to our base, just up the valley from Kidwelly, so it's an easy one for us to fit in, whether it's a one off clearance or a regular mowing slot.
A lot of properties here back onto fields and hedgerows, which means bigger gardens, longer hedges and more growth creeping in from the edges.
