LAWN CARE / MAINTENANCE

Lawn Care
in Carmarthenshire

Professional lawn care in Kidwelly and across Carmarthenshire — built around your lawn, your soil and the West Wales weather. At Keltic Grounds Wales we run year-round lawn treatment programmes that bring tired, mossy or patchy lawns back to health, then keep them that way. Our local soil tends to hold moisture and grow moss readily; the wet Welsh winters need a different approach to the dry summers we're now seeing. We tailor each programme to your lawn's actual condition, not a one-size template. Honest assessment, honest pricing, and visible results within the first season.

What's in a Keltic Grounds Lawn Care Programme

What we do

01
Spring feed and weed treatment
early-season nitrogen-rich feed and selective weed control to wake the lawn up and choke out dandelions, daisies and clover.
02
Scarifying
mechanical removal of moss and thatch. Essential for West Wales lawns. Best done in spring or autumn.
03
Aeration
hollow-tine or solid-tine aeration to relieve compaction, improve drainage and let roots breathe. Especially important on Carmarthenshire's heavier clay soils.
04
Summer feed
slow-release feed to keep colour and growth steady through the warmer months.
05
Moss treatment
targeted iron-based treatment to kill moss without scorching the grass. Followed by raking and overseeding where needed.
06
Autumn feed
potassium-rich feed to harden the lawn against winter stress

Why Carmarthenshire Lawns
Need Specialist Care

West Wales weather is its own thing. Wet, mild winters mean moss takes hold quickly. Heavy clay soils common in this part of Carmarthenshire compact easily and drain slowly. The summers are increasingly dry, which stresses lawns that haven't been properly fed and aerated. A lawn care programme designed for the Home Counties or the dry East doesn't work the same way here. We've adjusted our timings, products and treatment frequencies to suit local conditions.

FAQs

How often should my lawn be treated?
Most domestic lawns benefit from 4-5 treatment visits per year — typically spring, early summer, late summer, autumn, and a winter assessment. Programmes are spaced 8-12 weeks apart depending on lawn condition and weather.
Do I need to be home for treatments?
No. As long as we have access to the lawn (gate code or unlocked side gate), we can carry out most treatments without you being there. We'll text or email after each visit to confirm what was done.
Is it safe for children and pets?
Yes — we use products approved for domestic use and follow manufacturer guidance. Most treatments require keeping pets and children off the lawn for 2-4 hours after application until dry. We'll always let you know specific timings.
My lawn is mostly moss. Can it be saved?
Almost always, yes. Heavy moss usually means poor drainage, compaction, low nutrients or too much shade — sometimes all four. We treat the moss, scarify it out, then address the underlying cause. Most heavily-mossed lawns look transformed within one full season.
When's the best time to start a lawn care programme?
Early spring (March-April) is ideal because it sets the lawn up for the whole year. But we can start a programme any month — autumn is the second-best window because it's when scarifying and aeration are most effective.
Do you offer one-off treatments or only programmes?
Both. One-off scarifying, aeration or feed-and-weed are popular for people who just want their lawn sorted before a wedding, sale or summer. Annual programmes work out cheaper per visit and produce better long-term results.
