Clearing gardens in Kidwelly
Kidwelly is home for us. Our yard is in the town, so local jobs are easy for us to fit in, and we're never far away if something needs looking at again.
We've cleared everything from small back gardens to a whole overgrown hillside here. The hill job turned into a full video series, because the owner needed the land cleared and kept maintained to protect her claim to it.
Gardens round the Gwendraeth valley and up towards Mynyddygarreg are often bigger and steeper than town gardens, which is where our heavy brushcutters and stand-on mower earn their keep.
She Has to Prove This Hill Is Hers, and the Council Just Gave Her a Deadline
What we clear
Brambles, nettles and weeds
Cut down and cleared from beds, borders, banks and the back corners nobody's been near in years.
Long grass and rough ground
Knocked back with heavy brushcutters, then cut down so it can be mowed again.
Overgrown hedges and shrubs
Reduced in height and width, or cut back hard to low stumps where they've taken over.
Ivy and climbers
Pulled off fences, walls and sheds and cut at the base so you can see what's underneath.
All green waste taken away
Loaded up and taken to a licensed site. No skip, no tip runs, no piles left behind.
A proper finish
Paths and patios blown off and the whole area raked over, ready to use or maintain.
What a clearance doesn't include
- Digging out roots or grinding stumps. We cut back to ground level or low stumps only.
- Tree felling or anything needing climbing or rope work.
- Household rubbish, building waste or anything hazardous. Green waste only.
Clearances we've filmed
We film a lot of our jobs. Here are a few short ones.

Registered waste carrier
In Wales you are legally responsible for where your garden waste ends up. Under the household waste duty of care you must only hand it to a registered waste carrier, and you can be fined £300 if it gets fly-tipped by someone who isn't. Natural Resources Wales explains it in their guidance for householders.
We're registered with Natural Resources Wales, and the green waste goes to a licensed site. Waste removal is priced on your quote, or included when you book a whole day. You don't need to book a slot at Nantycaws or Trostre recycling centres or hire a skip.

Common questions
Are you actually based in Kidwelly?
Yes. Keltic Grounds Wales is run from Kidwelly, so the town and the villages round it are our home patch.
Can you clear land to help prove I'm looking after it?
We can clear it and keep it maintained, and we're happy to date-stamp photos of each visit for your records. We can't give legal advice on land ownership, so speak to a solicitor about the legal side.
How much does garden clearance cost in Kidwelly?
Every clearance is priced on its own, because two gardens the same size can be completely different amounts of work. We look at the size, how thick the growth is, access and how much waste will come out, then give you a fixed price in writing. Waste removal is priced on your quote, or included when you book a whole day.
Why not just use the council garden waste bin?
The council's garden waste service is one 240 litre bin, collected fortnightly for part of the year, at £60.60 a year for 2026. That's great for keeping on top of a garden, but a clearance usually fills several van loads, which is why it's quicker and cheaper to have it taken away in one go.
Do you dig out roots and stumps?
No. We cut everything back to ground level or low stumps, which is what most clearances need. Digging out roots is a much heavier job, so we leave it out of our quotes and say so in writing.
Can you clear a garden in bird nesting season?
Yes, carefully. Between March and August we check hedges, brambles and shrubs for active nests before we cut, because damaging an active nest is an offence under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. If we find one, that section waits.
