Hedge cutting in Pontyates
Pontyates sits on the Gwendraeth Fawr, between Kidwelly and Pontyberem. Like the rest of the valley it grew up around coal, so there are rows of terraces on the valley sides, with bungalows and newer homes round the edges and bigger rural plots out towards Meinciau and Carway.
Plenty of properties round Pontyates and Meinciau back onto fields, with long boundary hedges of hawthorn, blackthorn and hazel as well as the usual garden conifers and laurel. Field hedges are best cut late in the season, once birds have finished nesting.
We cut the sides with a slight taper, wider at the bottom than the top, so light gets down to the base and the hedge stays thick from the ground up.

Do you cover Ponthenri and Meinciau?
Yes. We cover Pontyates, Ponthenri, Meinciau, Carway and Pinged, and the rest of the valley up to Pontyberem.
Is there a call out charge for Pontyates?
No. Pontyates is ten minutes from our base in Kidwelly, so there's no travel charge. You just get a fixed price for the job.
Do you do hedge cutting all over Pontyates?
Yes, across Pontyates (SA15) and nearby Ponthenri, Meinciau, Carway, Pinged, Pontyberem and Kidwelly. Pontyates is about ten minutes up the Gwendraeth valley from our base in Kidwelly.
How tall a hedge can you cut?
Up to about 4 metres with ladders and long reach pole cutters. Anything taller, we'll tell you straight.
Can a conifer hedge be cut right back?
Only so far. Most conifers won't regrow from old brown wood, so we'll tell you how far yours can safely come down.
