Lawn mowing in Pontyates
Pontyates sits on the Gwendraeth Fawr, between Kidwelly and Pontyberem. Like the rest of the valley it grew up around coal, so there are rows of terraces on the valley sides, with bungalows and newer homes round the edges and bigger rural plots out towards Meinciau and Carway.
Bigger lawns and rural plots out towards Carway and Meinciau are where our stand on mower earns its keep, while the smaller lawns in the village get a compact mower through the side gate.
We never take off more than about a third of the grass height in one cut, and we vary the mowing direction, which is what keeps a lawn thick and stripy rather than scalped.
Saving overgrown lawns
What's in a cut
Overgrown first cuts
Long grass knocked back in stages so the lawn recovers rather than browning off.
Same faces, same day
A regular slot on our round, fortnightly or every four weeks.
Cut, clippings your way
Grass cut to the right height for the season, with the clippings put in your green bin, taken away for an extra fee or mulched back in.
Edges trimmed
Lawn edges strimmed or cut back so borders and paths stay crisp.

Common questions
Do you cover Ponthenri and Meinciau?
Yes. We cover Pontyates, Ponthenri, Meinciau, Carway and Pinged, and the rest of the valley up to Pontyberem.
Is there a call out charge for Pontyates?
No. Pontyates is ten minutes from our base in Kidwelly, so there's no travel charge. You just get a fixed price for the job.
Do you do lawn mowing all over Pontyates?
Yes, across Pontyates (SA15) and nearby Ponthenri, Meinciau, Carway, Pinged, Pontyberem and Kidwelly. Pontyates is about ten minutes up the Gwendraeth valley from our base in Kidwelly.
How often should my lawn be mowed?
Every two weeks in the main growing season, roughly April to September, and every three or four weeks in spring and autumn.
Do you take the clippings away?
We can for an extra fee, or we can put them in your green bin on site or mulch them back into the lawn, whichever suits you. Paths are blown off before we leave either way.
