Llangennech gardens, from our base in Kidwelly
Keltic Grounds Wales is a family run garden business at 23 New Street, Kidwelly. Llangennech is about 13 miles from us by road, along the A484 through Llanelli, so it sits right next to a lot of our Llanelli work.
Whether it's a garden that's got away from you, a hedge that's taller than you'd like, or a lawn you want someone else to keep on top of, we can help, along with patios, gutters and regular maintenance.
Every quoted job gets a fixed price in writing before we start, and we carry £5 million public liability insurance.
Our Llwynhendy bramble path clearance, a couple of miles from Llangennech
The bramble path in Llwynhendy
Our closest written up job to Llangennech is in Llwynhendy. The lady there works full time and had been squeezing down a narrow path she'd cut through the brambles herself, just to get to her own back door. The brambles had spread over from the empty house next door.
The ground underneath was full of bricks and breeze blocks, so it was brushcutter blades only, no flail. We picked the rubble out by hand as it turned up and had it cleared in a full day for £630 plus £100 for waste. She then had us do the driveway and paths as well.
If there's an empty or neglected property next to you, get on top of the brambles early. They root wherever the stems touch the ground, and they spread fast.
Gardening in Llangennech
Llangennech grew up as a coal mining village and is now largely a commuter village, with its own station on the Heart of Wales line. The Afon Morlais runs down through the middle of it into the Loughor estuary, with saltmarsh and mudflats along the edge and farmland with hedgerows on the slopes above.
Hedges and nesting birds
Where a garden backs onto fields, woodland or hedgerows, growth creeps in from the edges and boundary hedges get big. The best time for a hard cut on most hedges is September to February. It isn't illegal to trim a garden hedge from March to August, but it is an offence to damage a wild bird's nest while it's in use, so we always check carefully before any work in nesting season and leave any section with an active nest. Our hedge cutting season guide explains it properly.
Carmarthenshire Council's own wildlife advice for the Llangennech ward suggests leaving wild corners, log piles and gaps in fences for hedgehogs. If you'd like a corner left rough when we clear, just say.
Your garden waste bin
Llangennech is Carmarthenshire County Council, where garden waste collection is a paid yearly subscription with a council issued garden waste bin, collected fortnightly. The council only empties council issued bins, won't take bagged garden waste, and the lid has to close. If you've got one of those bins, we can put your lawn clippings in it. A clearance or hedge reduction is far more than one bin, so waste removal is priced separately on the quote, or comes included as one van load on a whole day booking.

What we don't do
- We don't dig out roots. Plants are cut to ground level or left as low stumps.
- Clippings only leave with us if removal is paid for. Otherwise they go in your green bin or are disposed of on site.

Llangennech questions
How far is Llangennech from you?
About 13 miles by road from our base in Kidwelly, through Llanelli on the A484. A lot of our regular work is in and around Llanelli, so Llangennech isn't out of our way.
Do you also cover Llwynhendy and Bynea?
Yes. Llwynhendy and Bynea are part of our Llanelli area, and our bramble path clearance in Llwynhendy is the closest written up job to Llangennech.
Can you put the clippings in my green bin?
Yes, if you have a Carmarthenshire Council garden waste bin and there's room in it. The council won't take bagged garden waste and the lid has to close, so anything more than a bin's worth is either taken away if you pay for removal or disposed of on site.
Can you cut my hedge in spring or summer?
Often, yes. Trimming a garden hedge between March and August isn't illegal, but damaging an active bird's nest is. We check carefully before any work in nesting season and leave any section with an active nest until the young have gone.
Is it cheaper to book a day or get a quote?
It depends on the job. If you've got a long list, a day is simple: £360 for one person, £600 for two or £840 for three, with one van load of green waste included. For a single clearance or hedge, a fixed quote is often better. Send photos and we'll tell you which makes more sense.
Do you dig out roots and stumps?
No. Our quotes never include digging out roots. We cut back to ground level or leave low stumps.
