For one-off jobs we charge £45 per man hour, or you can book a team for a full 8 hour day: £360 for one person, £600 for two or £840 for three. Lawns are from £30 a cut, most are £35, and regular maintenance plans start from £99 a month. Size, waste and access change the price.
Our gardening prices in one place
Most gardening websites won't tell you what anything costs, so here's ours. These are the prices we actually charge, not a range pulled off the internet.
| What you need | Our price | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| General labour | £45 per man hour | Small one-off jobs |
| Book a team for a day (8 hours) | 1 person £360, 2 people £600, 3 people £840 | A long list of jobs, or a big overgrown garden |
| Half day (4 hours) | 1 person £200, 2 people £340, 3 people £480 | A morning's worth of jobs |
| Lawn mowing | From £30 a cut, most lawns £35 | Fortnightly rounds |
| Same day grass cutting | Two to three times the normal price | Booked before 12 midday, if we can fit you in |
| Garden maintenance plans | From £99 a month | Keeping on top of the whole garden, no long contract |
| Green waste collection | £150 per van load | You've done the cutting, the pile needs to go |
| Gutter clearance | From £70 a house | Once or twice a year |
| Weed spraying | £5 per m² light, £7 per m² heavy, £100 minimum | Drives, patios, paths and gravel |
A booked day needs a £100 deposit, which comes off your final bill, and a whole day includes one van load of green waste. On a quoted job the waste is priced separately on the quote, so you can keep it and save the money if you've got a way to get rid of it.
What customers actually paid this year
Here's what that looks like on real jobs we did and filmed in 2026. Every one got a fixed price in writing before we started.
| Job | What we did | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Robot mower edging | Edges and borders, about 30 minutes, two of us, every two weeks | £55 a visit |
| Llanelli garage job | Lawn kept cut every two weeks after we cleared the garden | £25 a visit |
| Front garden tidy up | About two hours, a Victorian border found underneath, three bags of waste | £250 with waste |
| New home in Pontyberem | Waist high grass and bamboo, half a day, owner took the waste | £300 |
| Llanelli lost key garden | Two years of brambles and small trees, a full day for two of us | £530 with waste |
More real prices, including hedges and bigger clearances, are on our garden prices page, and the hedge jobs are broken down in how much hedge cutting costs.
Hourly, day rate or a monthly plan?
- By the hour suits a small job you can describe in a sentence, like a couple of shrubs cut back. At £45 per man hour, two of us for an hour is £90.
- By the day is usually better value once the list gets long. Two of us for a full day is £600 for 16 man hours on site, which works out cheaper than the hourly rate, and the van load of waste is included.
- A monthly plan is for people who want the garden looked after without thinking about it. Plans start from £99 a month and you can cancel with 30 days' notice. Whether it's worth it for you is in our guide is a garden maintenance plan worth it?
What changes the price
- How long it's been left. Two years of growth is a very different job to six months, and most of the price is time on site.
- The waste. On our jobs taking the waste away has been £100 for one van load and £300 for three. Keep it or compost it and the price drops.
- Access. Everything has to come out through a gate, a house or down a lane, and tight access adds time.
- Height. Tall hedges are only cut from ladders or a cherry picker, which I'm IPAF certified to operate, and they make a lot more waste per metre.
- What's hiding underneath. Rubble, wire and glass mean blades and picking it out by hand instead of quicker machines.
Checking any gardener before you hire them
Which? Trusted Traders' advice on hiring a gardener is to get quotes in writing that list the work in detail, ask to see a public liability insurance certificate, and never assume green waste is included, so ask. In Wales it's also worth checking that whoever takes your waste is a registered waste carrier, because you can be fined if it gets fly tipped. We're insured for £5m public liability, we're a registered waste carrier, we're rated 5.0 from 35 Google reviews, and if anything isn't right, tell us within 7 days and we'll come back for free.
